Sun Salutations are at the foundation of vinyasa, a type of yoga in which movements form a flowing sequence in coordination with breath.

Dee Gard will deconstruct this popular sequence to help yogis move through the poses safely, purposely, and powerfully.

In this 2-hour workshop, we’ll explore all the parts of the classic sun salutation by breaking down key alignment actions and transitions to help you feel stronger and more confident in vinyasa yoga classes.

This workshop is for all levels of students, and for teachers who want to build their teaching vocabulary.

We rent skis, boots and poles here at Trax on the corner of Jewel Lake and Raspberry. There is a special rental rate of $25 per day for this event. Space is limited so call the shop at 374-9600 or Mike at 378-7800 to sign up. Meet at Trax from 10-2pm for gear check or to rent skis . We’ll meet at the Kincaid stadium below the timing sign at 2:45pm.

Sarah will spend time breaking down the mechanics of popular arm balances such as Flying Pigeon, Crow, and Side Crow in this fun and challenging workshop!
While strength is an obvious component of arm balances, what is often overlooked is the flexibility required, both physically and mentally, to come into and sustain these postures with ease. If you can support a healthy plank pose or Chaturunga, you can begin to explore the nuances of arm balancing! You will come away with a variety of techniques that can be woven into future practices.
This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience! Whether you are curious (or fearful) about arm balancing or regularly balance on your hands, come build and refine your skills to take your practice to a new level!

Anyone you see practicing in any yoga studio, balancing on their hands or positioning themselves in the bendiest shapes were once, a first time yogi. Many of them probably couldn’t touch their toes when they first began!
But something moved them to investigate yoga further – whether it was too much stress, looking to gain flexibility, needing to lose weight, strengthen or tone muscle, taking time for self, perhaps seeking a new beginning, or simply, curiosity about all the fuss surrounding this practice.
Whatever the reason, that’s all it takes—a simple step to commit to just TRY it and see how it fits your body. Once you are done with this hour and a half workshop, we hope you feel more comfortable and confident on your mats and at TRAX Yoga.

Intro to Yoga!

This class will take you through everything you need to walk into the studio comfortable and confident to attend a yoga class! Students will be guided through the check in process, locate amenities; such as props, restrooms, and more! Once settled into the studio, students will be introduced to yoga postures with step-by-step verbal queuing, demonstration, and adjustments if desired. Attention will be placed on the students understanding, safety, and stability with each pose. We followed up with an integration of breath with movement to explore the full experience of vinyasa!

This 2 class series will not only break down common poses you will come across in any yoga class, it will also give you opportunity to ask questions and find answers. 💫Then, transition into a 20-minute Vini and Yin flow guided by Danielle. Explore the balance between effort and ease as you synchronize breath with movement in this unique fusion practice. Sink into deep stretches and find stillness in the yin postures, allowing tension to melt away as you close out the session in savasana.
